Keep Yourself Safe This Christmas

Christmas is an exciting time of year however it can bring increased risk to rented properties.
  1. Decorative Fire Hazards  - things like fiary lights and deocrations are best to be turned off over night or whilst out. It i sbetter to use modern fairy lights as the older ones can cause more risk. Additional fairy lights means additional plug sockets needed, do not overload plug sockets as this can lead to a fire risk.
  2. Naked Flames - some decorations use naked flames and candles are also popular at this time of year. Avoid any potential hazards by not leaving flames unattend or near soft furntishings
  3. Do not hang stockings or decorations over an open fire place.
  4. Make sure you have recently checked your smoke detector.
  5. Thefts spike near Christmas - avoid leaving presents under Christmas tree to early, or in eye view. Be extra precausious regarding security measures, close curtains at night and ensure security lights works.
  6. Let you Landlord know if you are away this Christmas,
  7. Check plumbing before Christmas - nobody wants heating and hot water problems on Christmas Day!!!!
